Today, I’m hitting the road for my bi-annual mini day trip to select the pretties that we will plant in our garden this Fall. It’s the start of my favorite time of year for a million + one reasons under the sun!! Firstly, the subtle decrease in temps here in North Georgia has signaled to local gardeners + nurseries that planting season is upon us!!
We’ve been working on building up our perennial border garden in the front yard + after what felt like months of struggling to find inspiration + a general plan, I have hit a geyser of creativity just in the past week!
Looking forward to sharing my trip + the plantings that follow this weekend, weather permitting; stay tuned. I’ll post updates right here!!
*Update: made the trip to our amazing seasonal local nursery that offers beautiful plants at crazy low prices today + they had ALL the perennials I hoped they would!!
After weeks of progressive planning + researching—I mean, I really did my homework— I was ecstatic to find racks upon racks upon pallets stocked full of the prettiest selection of perennials beyond anything I’ve seen before. The set up is a lush, organized chaos + the nursery only opens seasonally. The Autumn opening was on Thursday, so making the the trip yesterday ensured a full selection never before seen at my past visits. It was amazing to stroll thru the stacked carts knowing exactly what we wanted + having my pick of the stock. But the sight of the palettes of six different types of coneflowers, row after row of classic perennials all on a chamber of commerce day. . . it doesn’t get any better!!
So—tomorrow is planting day + I cannot wait to share more pictures of how far our front flower bed has come in the past year. . . we have completely redesigned this portion of our yard! In the meantime, catch up on our vision here. Happy Saturday! I hope you enjoy quality time on the porch—it’s never wasted.
